Automobiles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were notified by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then found many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
