The buzz around the recent awards show reached a fever pitch, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a puzzling photo of a strange statue. The mystery has now been solved. Larian Studios is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was presented with a audacious trailer featuring memorable imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the literal unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a third Original Sin game to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not on the cards right now.
That said, the developer described this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This choice of words hints that the team is likely building a faster-paced experience rather than another turn-based title. For now, we can only guess, as only a announcement clip is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is highly rated and arguably it sparked the modern wave of complex computer role-playing games. These games are defined by rich lore, branching plots, and deep class systems—traits that subsequently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is traditional swords and sorcery, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency granted to the player.
Where many modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is packed with specialized paths you can achieve by choosing a specific type of character with a unique decision path.
The series is also notoriously flexible, allowing players to improvise throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be approached in multiple ways, frequently in surprising fashion.
- You might progress the story because you recalled something a dog told you.
- Or, you could bypass a challenge by using the world itself in a inventive way.
The Journey Continues
It is precisely these elements that lead fans and critics to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games of all time. Now, fans can get ready for a new entry in this esteemed franchise.
