Presence
Soderbergh pushes his creative boundaries with this clever ghostly tale filmed completely from the perspective of the spirit. When a household including mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe moves into their recent residence, the lens – representing the ghost – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of aware of the supernatural presence, and it seems guarding her. But why? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, the Sky channel

The Black Phone
Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest stands strong even without a continuation. Taking place in 1978 Denver, a series of kidnappings has rendered the youth on edge. After Finney is taken by the kidnapper and locked up in a cellar, he fears the worst. Yet the old telephone mounted nearby keeps ringing, with ghostly voices offering help, while the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. October 11th, late evening, the Film4 channel
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for materialism in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye set about monetising the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, bad makeup and hypocrisy, yet the lead actress achieves to present the character with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, Film4
This Espionage Thriller
This period's additional entry from the filmmaker is a spy mystery as precise as the polo necks used by Fassbender's intelligence officer. He receives a mission to identify a double agent among the team out of five possibilities – including is his spouse. The two stars are masters of calm composure, so a delicious mind game of fact versus fiction unfolds. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela take part the smart espionage amusement. October 17th, various showings, Sky Cinema
